#mondaymood – sometimes, you
have to kill one of your characters?
One of the questions that is asked often in the writing
groups that I am in is… “Have you ever had to kill a character from one of your
books?”
I have never answered that question because I have never
killed a character in one of my books. There
has never been a need for one of my characters to die. I have had characters discuss loved ones who
have died. They have even had flashbacks
to the moment that the loved one has died.
I do have one character who has a disease that leads to death, but part
of her story is that God heals her.
This last time this question was asked, just this week, I thought
about it. I asked myself, is there a
character in any of my Works in Progress that could possibly die?
The conversation ended quickly when one of my favorite characters
asked, “Why do they have to die?
